Streets by schools in Prague 7 got paintings straight onto the asphalt

Rajská, Plynární and Jablonského near Nádraží Holešovice have been painted under an asphalt-art scheme; Antonínská follows in September. Pupils themselves helped shape the places they walk through to school. The paint is meant to slow traffic where there is neither time nor money for construction work.

Twelve Prague roadworks reopened at once before 1 September

Traffic is fully restored on twelve sites across the city: Kbelská finished on 13 August, then Plzeňská, Radlická and Jaromírova, with work also done on the Pod Krejcárkem, Moskevská and Hlávkův bridges. The timing was deliberate — the heaviest work was scheduled for the summer holidays precisely so the key restrictions would be gone before 1 September, when city traffic jumps.

School streets spread to more Prague neighbourhoods from September

At the Hovorčovická primary school in Prague 8 a school street starts on 7 September: in the morning the area around the school closes to cars so children can walk in safely on their own. The push came from the school and from parents; the measure runs under the Safe Routes to School programme, coordinated by the Pešky městem organisation and funded by the city. Prague 7 is launching school streets for the new year as well — so this is a city programme, not one district's idea.
